Handcrafted Holiday Blog Hop

If you are coming here from the blog of my darling friend and our wonderful hop host, Dana Kessler, welcome to my sweet studio!

Who doesn’t love a Christmas Countdown?  There are so many wonderful ways to build the excitement and get into the spirit by counting down the days for the big event.  Here are a few suggestions: a different Christmas activity every night (see the lights, read a story, decorate the tree, service, etc.); a book a day to read with a child; Random Acts of Kindness (service for each day of the month); a different Christmas story to read each day with a coordinating treat and/or ornament; 25 days closer to Christ with scriptures, stories, pictures, etc.; and of course, treats & gifts are always a hit (I suggest adding these to any countdown)!

Countdowns can become a wonderful tradition that children look forward to and will continue with their own families.  Over the years as my family has matured, our needs and interests have changed as well, so I wanted to make a new calendar that would be  more versatile ~ simply by changing the message/instructions inside.  I love using this CTMH Decor Frame.  After Christmas, it will be easy to remove and store the tags.  Plus, we can continue to enjoy this beautiful frame and use it throughout the year for other seasons, life events, photos, etc. ~ LOVE IT!

A project this involved definitely needed the help of my favorite tool, Cricut Craft Room, using our wonderful Close To My Heart Cricut Cartridges.  First, I measured and applied the correct size to the tags, then I went to my CCR files of CTMH Christmas images, picked a variety of them and sized them to fit the tags.  Then I put shapes to the awesome stamp set D1552 Magical Days (you can get this $17.95 set free with a $100 order on my website through the end of the year – plus the CCR file to duplicate this project FREE from me!).  Of course, I cut everything on a 12×24 mat using different pattern papers from X7176B, Sparkle & Shine Paper Collection.   CCR made this project a snap!  I have also made one to send my son who is serving an LDS mission in Finland.  Since postage is so expensive, I made it to fit on a ring.  It’s nice and compact but still beautiful!

If you’d like to make this Countdown Calendar for your own family, here’s what you’ll need:

simply place an order for any of these products on my website at sheri.ctmh.com  and I’ll email you my Cricut Craft Room file free to easily make your own Countdown Calendar today ~ Merry Christmas!

Thanks for stopping by.  Now you can continue your journey by heading over to the blog of my very fun and talented friend, Bren Yule, to see what she’s created.
